A Business Retention and Expansion (BRE) program is a classic Economic Development proactive practice to support existing local business. The Leduc-Nisku EDA is visiting the Oil & Gas sector in the Leduc region specifically. By identifying potential opportunities for growth and expansion, as well as, barriers and deterrents to growth and survival, the Leduc Nisku EDA, agencies, stakeholders and community members can work toward implementing change so companies can increase jobs and investment plans. In the process, priorities are set for Business Retention and Expansion projects to address the needs of businesses in the region.
Why is the Leduc-Nisku EDA interested in Broadband? Our goal is to: Identify how access to affordable and reliable high-speed broadband will enable economic, social and environmental goals of the region and identify the potential to enhance a regional network of broadband infrastructure to leverage municipal investments and enhance business access.
The Leduc-Nisku Economic Development Association is collaborating with municipalities and businesses in the region to support the economic development of the Alberta Aerotropolis region. Together the Leduc-Nisku Economic Development Association is working to develop and implement strategies to support business investment and development in the short, medium, and long-term.
The Leduc-Nisku EDA has been awarded funding through the 2017/2018 Status of Women Community Grant Program. Regional businesswomen have formed the Leduc’s Leading Women committee. The Vision for this group is “Building a community of women leaders and influencers in the Leduc region through mentoring and connections.”
