Leduc-Nisku EDA Speaks at International Economic Development Council Leadership Summit
In January, the Leduc-Nisku EDA executive director was invited to speak at the International Economic Development Council Leadership Summit in Las Vegas, Nevada. This prestigious event of over 500 economic development leaders from throughout the world focused on developing leadership skills and information for leaders in economic development organizations.
Barbara McKenzie was invited to speak on a panel moderated by leading site selector Gene DePrez, who she met at the IEDC Conference in Toronto in September 2017. Also, on the panel was Jerry Mallot, CEO of JAXUSA Partnership, the Investment Attraction agency for Jacksonville, Florida and John D. Tennant, Managing Partner, W2N2, Ontario and leader on the development of Toronto Global. Our topic was Best Practices in Operating a Regional FDI Organization.
Barbara focused on developing FDI for a smaller region and how to develop best practices and skills that promote and support FDI for smaller rural/urban regions. During her presentation she discussed the value of understanding the business needs in the region, understanding the supply chain, assets, and industries in the region, identifying key markets for focus and leveraging partners and relationships to increase leads as well as utilizing online marketing strategies.
